The Stack Stone® system was created with the
do-it-yourself landscaper in mind. Each unit has two, textured, natural
looking faces; a larger 4" by 8" face and a smaller 4" by 6"
face. |
|
To
construct a solid wall, the larger faces of adjacent units should be
aligned on opposite sides of the wall. This creates a straight wall
with a continuous stone face on both
sides.
|
|
A semi-solid wall is constructed by aligning
the larger faces of all units on one side of the wall. The side of the
wall with the larger faces will exhibit a continuous surface. A
semi-solid wall is necessary for curved walls. It can also be used for
straight
walls.
|
|
The minimum radius for a curve is 21" for inside curves,
and 29" for outside curves. For inside curves either the larger or
smaller face can be used for the face of the wall. For outside curves,
only the largest face can be used for the face of the
wall. |
|
To create a corner, use a Coping Unit. The Corner Unit needs
to be split in half. Turn the Coping Unit upside down, and then score
from the front to the back of the unit. Place the chisel into the
scored groove and tap with hammer to split the unit into a left and
right half. Place one half on the first course, and the other half on
the next course. Use adhesive to secure the units together. If corner
units are not required, the unit may be used as a coping
stone. |
|
The coping unit, which is the finishing
course of units, should be secured to the top of the wall with an adhesive. A line of adhesive
should run along the length of the wall on either side of the tongue of
the units below. A coping unit may replace a standard unit anywhere
within the wall as long as it is not placed above or beside any other
coping unit. |
|
When
the alignment of the wall changes from an outside curve to an inside
curve, it will be necessary to place transition pieces on every other
course. This transition is made using two left or right corner
units. |
|
If the
wall is to be constructed so there is no soil within 8" of the top, the
wall is considered to be free standing. For the free standing wall it
is recommended to place adhesive under the top two courses of the
wall. |
